Benedict Michael Santacroce of New Hampshire, and Southold native, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026. He was 26 years old.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15th from 4-7 P.M. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16th at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Patrick's R.C. Cemetery in Southold.


Obituary


Benedict Michael Santacroce of Westmoreland, New Hampshire, and Southold native, known affectionately to his family and community as Ben, or Benny, passed away Saturday September 12th, 2026 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer and other health issues. He was 26 years old.

Ben was born on January 14, 2000 at his home in Southold to Lorraine M. (née Doskoez) and James R. Santacroce. He was one of ten children. Prior to living in Chesire County, NH, he lived in Sullivan County, NH and Coos County, NH.

Ben was a beloved son, a cherished brother, and a beacon of pure light to everyone who knew him. Non-verbal and autistic since the age of 12, Ben communicated a profound love, strength, and resilience that transcended words. Throughout his recent health struggles, he proved himself to be a true trooper, facing every difficult milestone with an inspiring bravery that united his entire family. He was also a member of Eastern Rite Old Catholic Church.

A young man of quiet but immense impact, Ben’s life was defined by the deep bond he shared with his large and devoted family. He leaves behind his loving parents Lorraine and James; his six brothers and his three sisters James Jr., Robert, Gregory, Adam, Malachi, Patrick, Olivia Begin, Rebecca Williams (all of Westmoreland, NH) and Brittany Tafur of Shelton, CT; and grandparents Barbara Santacroce of Southold and Robert and Rochelle Doskoez of New Port Richey, FL. He was a proud and treasured brother-in-law to three brothers-in-law, and a doting uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Ben’s journey was surrounded by a community of endless thoughts, love, and prayers. His family takes immense comfort in knowing that he is now resting peacefully in the loving presence of The Holy Trinity, free from pain, and safely home. His memory will forever remain an inspiration of pure love, enduring faith, and strength.
