Ronald W. Schweizer

Ronald W. Schweizer, 77, of Jamesport, New York, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, surrounded by his family, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor who was always there when someone needed him.

Ron was a builder in so many ways. He built many things throughout his life: roads, bridges, and structures that will remain for generations to come. But his greatest legacy is the family he built and the love he gave them.

Born in Amityville, New York, to Kenneth and Evelyn Schweizer, Ron grew up in Farmingdale. He earned an Associate’s degree from SUNY Farmingdale and went on to build a career spanning nearly 50 years. He worked for New York State, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works, and Greenman-Pedersen Inc., where he worked on and supervised the construction of many roads, bridges, and canals throughout Suffolk County. He took great pride in his work and in the lasting contributions he made to the community.
Among the projects Ron was involved with were the temporary bridges constructed for the U.S. Opens at Shinnecock Hills. Given his lifelong love of golf, this was undoubtedly a particularly enjoyable part of his career.

In his younger years, Ron proudly served in the National Guard. His admirable sense of service, responsibility, and dependability were qualities he carried with him throughout his life.

Ron was a man who could fix just about anything. He was incredibly handy and was always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, and neighbors. Whether something needed to be built, repaired, or figured out, he was the person people could count on.

Above all, Ron was devoted to his family. He shared nearly 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jeanne, and together they raised their children, Ron and Danielle. He was a devoted father who was always present for his children and would do almost anything for them.

His grandchildren held an especially important place in his heart. He was a loving grandfather to Logan, Keegan, Owen, Cavan, Paisley, Julia, and Emma, all of whom loved him dearly. He rarely missed a sporting or school event and took great pride in showing up to cheer and support them. Whether he was building or fixing something for them with his hands, sitting on the sidelines at their games, or simply spending time together, Ron made sure his family knew they could always count on him.

Ron also had a lifelong passion for bowling and bowled for more than 60 years. The sport brought him countless friendships, memories, and years of enjoyment. He enjoyed golf very much too and appreciated the time he spent on the course and with friends.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Jeanne; his children, Ron (Susan) of Brentwood, TN, and Danielle (Ryan Carr) of Laurel NY; his seven grandchildren, Logan, Keegan, Owen, Cavan, Paisley, Julia, and Emma; and his siblings, Skip and Lorrie. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, former colleagues, and neighbors who will remember him with much love.

Ron spent his life building things with his hands and building a family with his heart. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
