Alfred Anthony Delaney III, 86, of Mattituck, NY, passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2026. Born on April 26,1940 in Albany, NY to Eva Marie Sauer and Alfred Delaney II. Alfred grew up in Elmont, NY and went to Chaminade High School. Alfred is survived by his wife, Kathleen Delaney; his children, Patricia Shanahan (Kenneth), Alfred Delaney IV (Staci), Cathy Delaney (Brian Sickler) and Lauren Gilbert (Kevin Beasley); his grandchildren, Kristine Shanahan, Matthew Shanahan, Kevin Shanahan, Casey Delaney, Molly Delaney, Helene Delaney, Christopher Delaney, Gavin Gilbert and Owen Gilbert; his great grandchildren, Everly DeSena, Nicholas DeSena, Jack DeSena, Ava Kennedy and Emma Kennedy; his siblings, Jeanne Towers (William Keir) and Karen Santoro (Carl). He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Delaney, and Grandchildren, James Shanahan and Clare Kennedy. Visitation will be held on October 29, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 pm at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home located at 13805 Main Road in Mattituck, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Southold Animal Shelter in support of Alfred’s love for his pets over the years and especially his current dog, Ollie, whom he adored.
