Kristen Dugan, 52, of Dix Hills, New York, passed away at her home on March 17, 2026. Known to those closest to her as Kris, she was a woman whose warmth, radiant smile, and genuine love for people touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on February 11, 1974, in Huntington, New York, to Robert and Barbara Dugan, Kristen was a lifelong Long Islander who called Dix Hills home for most of her 52 years. She grew up with a competitive spirit and a love of teamwork, playing basketball at Half Hollow Hills West High School and continuing her career on the court at Molloy University. The dedication, hustle, and camaraderie she found in basketball stayed with her throughout her life.
Kristen built a successful career as a Healthcare Account Manager, a role that perfectly suited her natural instinct to help others. She had a gift for connecting with people—whether in the workplace or in everyday life—and her bright smile made every interaction feel personal and sincere. She never met a stranger, and everyone who crossed her path felt a little better for it.
Beyond her career, Kristen found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She treasured fishing trips with her dad and shopping outings with her mom—time spent with the people she loved most. At home, she could often be found watching the birds at her feeder, with a special fondness for the cardinals that visited. There was something about those quiet moments that reflected the peaceful, appreciative spirit she carried with her always.
Above all, Kristen was a person of deep love and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a beloved daughter, a cherished sister, and a proud and adoring aunt. Those who knew her best will remember two words she never failed to say at bedtime: “Love Ya!!” It was more than a phrase—it was a promise, a reflection of the boundless love that defined her life.
Kristen is survived by her loving parents, Robert and Barbara Dugan; her sisters, Kelli Dugan and Kara Palmeri (Frank); and her adored nephews, Kyle Lizza, Crosby Palmeri, and Redding Palmeri. She also leaves behind countless friends and colleagues whose lives she brightened with her kindness, humor, and ever-present smile.
The family received friends on Sunday, May 3rd from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, 13805 Main Road, Mattituck, New York 11952.
Funeral Services were held during the visitation at 12:30 P.M., officiated by Deacon Doug Moran.
