Obituary
Paul Henry Gazzola died peacefully in his home in East Hampton on Monday, December 15, 2025 at the age of 73.
Paul was born on November 27, 1952 in the Bronx, NY and lived there throughout his childhood, but he could not wait for the summer, when he, his mother Margaret, his father Bill, and his five siblings Bill Jr., Carol, David, Margaret and Jimmy would stay at their “other” home on Barry Lane in East Hampton. Here he could go boating, fishing, walk the turtle trails and enjoy all of the outdoor life that only East Hampton provided.
When Paul grew older, he worked for various auto repair shops, until opening his own business, General Auto Service, which was located in the Springs, and which he ran for 10 years. Here he could do two of the other things that he loved which was repairing things that were broken and finding solutions to problems, often servicing vehicles at little or no charge for those in need. After his business closed, he worked for the Town of East Hampton’s Repair and Maintenance Department, and then the Police Garage, until he retired.
Paul also loved to dance and to give gifts, not only on holidays, but just to bring a smile to someone’s face.
Paul is survived by his older brother David, his younger sister Margaret (and her husband Hesham Eltablawi), and his wife Linda, who he married on Christmas Day in 1997.
Although Paul will be greatly missed, there is comfort in knowing that he is now alive with Jesus, Whom he loved most of all.
Paul was buried at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery (which was his only wish) on Saturday, December 20, 2025, under the guidance and help of DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck.
